King’s Meal

Did a hunger pang just cross your belly?

Don’t just be ready to gobble down a whole food counter, but just hop in your car, start the engine and speed off to your nearest Burger King outlet and satiate your gluttony with their latest range of ‘The King’s Collection’ with huge, juicy tender chicken & beef burgers, laiden with their special ‘red king sauce’.

This amazing new addition on the menu was made a few weeks ago and I happened to be one of the lucky ones to try it on its launch day.

Food is never fun without laughter and a bunch of folks to chit chat with, hence a host of food tasters, bloggers & social media influencers were invited to try and review the delectable addition. we sat in a large group and waited for the ‘King’ to arrive, meanwhile chatting and talking about the gathering on Twitter with the suggested hashtag of #KingsCollection and as the meal arrived, a roaring chant of “All hail the king” was made followed by complete silence as everyone got busy in savouring the taste of the new range. Once, the feast was devoured, the tweeting and chatting resumed. Clearly, the mood becomes light and happy when you have had good food, the same happened with us too.

Look at that double – pattied beauty, doesn’t it make you ravenous already??

Johnny Rockets Experientia..

Following the bandwagon of launching international burger chains here in pakistan, Johnny Rockets just couldn’t afford any more patience & inaugurated in Karachi, Dec 06 at the Dolmen Mall Clifton. My workplace being in the nearby vicinity, my colleagues & I decided to be the first ones to explore and experience

Luckily, (or maybe not) , there was not enough crazy crowd present there as there was at the opening of another brands recently, yet it took us some great deal of time to pass through the doors to be seated. Meanwhile they cleaned our table and arranged it, which btw took ages, we got a chance to take photos with their decorative props set right outside their place..which were admiring enough and considering that, all the photo-frenzy. click-loving people were snapping photographs with the Elvis presley cut-outs and others present there.

After a wait time of 25 minutes, we finally had the chance to visit the oh-so-talked-about American style burger joint. The clamour and commotion was at its peak, faces seemed happy and excited. A photo click here and a photo click there, that and sounds like, “Oh Wow”, “This is expensive” & “Hey, how much more time for the order” were audible from all around.

We got a nice cozy corner for our seating, grabbed the menu and examined it with that flabbergasted expression as the prices of a single burger started from Rs.700 without a combo & if you added fries and a drink with it, it approximately amounted to Rs. 1500 which is highly exorbitant for a burger experience here. No doubt the food tasted quite good, and the shakes were remarkably thick and delightful.

The music was peppy and of the 70’s era, amused us to the core & made us feel like dancing too but the wait time for the order was quite a turn off. However, we should give them some leeway for now as they have just started and didn’t expect that kind of rush, as is the common excuse of our restaurant owners here. Whereas I believe, this is the time when you’re most under observation and can or can not gain an influential customer base only based on their service quality.

Anyhow, the orders finally arrived, looking good as usual, but ofcourse with minimally counted number of fries as is the practice of all eateries these days, as they think its going to be highly unfair to give their customers the value for money (that’s probably old school).

With the meal gulped and charges paid for, we left the place with tummies certainly satisfied but wallets screaming of emptiness.

We tried comforting ourselves with the thought that we were a part of the first slot that tried Johnny Rockets in Karachi and it really helped us in forgetting the pain of the humongous money we had spent for no doubt a good burger, but then again it was just a burger right???

Height of Being A Foodie :D

A Foodie is not just the one who loves eating or binging at odd times, but some who has a non-depreciable adulation for all sorts of cuisine. A single grouse about not eating any kind of food, tends to bring you down on the qualifying list of Foodies.

Mind you!.. There are those who call themselves foodies yet plan to go on ‘juice diets’ or ‘protein diets’ & what not. Trust me they are FAKE 😛

What are FOODIES like?

– You have to go crazy at the sight, smell or talk of FOOD

– At breakfast, you should think of what will you have for lunch 🙂

– You can sketch an image of any cuisine in your mind at any given point of time

– Must be well versed with the entire directory of restaurants and new eateries in town

– Each new discount offers and buffets must be known and availed

– Your reputation should be such that everybody around you consult you for restaurant selection

– You inspire others to taste something they had never tried before

– You must know which place to order from according to budget

– Never Leave “mufta”  food 😀

– Have at least 1-2 loyalty cards from the restaurants

– You can not only dine out but also COOK-IN well

– Have a knack for relishing all sorts of dishes

– Not just revel in fancy dining, but also adore dhabay / khokay wala food

– There’s no such thing as mien aj thora khaungi  😛

and above all, before anyone tries to start with the food, you pause them there and then…. get your phone out, click a photo & INSTAGRAM it there and then 😉

This is how simple a Foodie lives his/her life

Do you aspire be to one?

Why not join me for food someday & you’ll see the transformation happening 😉

till then, here’s a little food-for-sight….
