Those Who Know …

Those Who Know Do Not Say
Those Who Say Do Not Know,
The Wise Will Always Listen More,
The Clever Speak, The Stupid Argue

* the first two lines are quoted by Lao Tsu, whereas the remaining are add-ons

Listening is not a quality but a necessity and a secret to winning the various contests of life we undergo. Meanwhile the others talk and you listen; grasp each detail they utter, observe their dispositions & countenance as this not only helps you broaden your scope of thoughts but also help construct the base for what you might have to say next rather than chattering and aimlessly wasting your energy and words for an audience that clearly doesn’t seem interested in a solid outcome but mere chaotic noise. It need not be reiterated that a smart listener is eventually a smart speaker, as he processes the gathered information in his head and knows which point to pick for discussion & takes it to a relatively meaningful conclusion

  1. I have heard and read such quotes all my childhood.. BUT frankly speaking and not adhering to the quotation (possibly demonstrating my stupidness as per Free Bird as I am arguing)… sometimes not speaking makes a person antisocial… speaking less and speaking smart is good and all that but filteriing out ones thoughts is simply dishonest and to some degree hinders a persons own imagination and creativity. Because talking brings such great sponteneous thoughts that one wouldnt even imagine thinking of while in solitude. Talking, arguing and discussing is the only way to solve problems and differences … May be a decade before it would have been true but now, in this age it is very important to express ones thoughts and emotions.. Talking is the key to success. Although I also come in the category of people who prefer not to speak (and the credit goes to such quote I think ts) buthat such qoutes are just an excuse…

Sorry if I have offended the great Lao Tzu and the Great author of the add-ons… 🙂

    1. becoming a part of an active healthy discussion is one thing & speaking aimlessly is another.
To talk without thought is letting the world know how your brain operates, which is a weakness in its own.
Always give the world a little to profile about you..
Your words represent you in short.

And no!… It’s not offensive what you wrote back there at all.. it’s everybody’s right to relay opinion as per their what they think is right BUT ofc you had the grounds to put forward your comments
